PM attended summit in Japan

Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia and CPP’s vice president, left Cambodia today by leading a delegation to join in the first Mekong-Japan Summit in Japan, which will be held from November 6 and 7.

The two-day summit is to strengthen inter-regional ties and handle common issues happening in the glob such as management of the Mekong region’s water resources and climate change.

According the statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “this forthcoming summit clearly demonstrates the political commitment at the highest level of the Mekong countries and Japan for a comprehensive development of the Mekong region, including the management of the Mekong River.”

Hun Sen will have a plan to attend a joint press conference and signing ceremony on the Tokyo Declaration on a “New Partnership for the Common Flourishing Future” of Japan and the Mekong-region countries.

The premier also has schedules to meet with Crown Prince Noruhito, new Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, Eda Satsuki and Tokahiro Yokomichi.
