Awards ceremony October 23 was held at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan in Tokyo, giving a 2009 Developing Asia Journalism Award to Economics Today magazine’s report, Sithav An by focusing on the poverty impact of the global financial crisis.

“I was very pleased that I was selected as a finalist of 2009 Developing Asia Journalist Award, and then as the winner of poverty impact of the global financial crisis among the journalists of the Asia-Pacific region,” the Phnom Penh Post quoted Sithav as saying that.

“I do not believe I could be recognised internationally with two years’ experience as journalist, but now I am a representative of Cambodia who won first place,” added he.

Economics Today magazine’s mission is to provide and inform researchers about current news and local events so that they can make better decisions and take control of their own lives under the license No. 109 by the Ministry of Information.

According to the Post, Sithav An has started working at this magazine since September 2007, reporting on development in Cambodia.
