New national airline to launch this week

Cambodia’s new national carrier, named Angkor Airline, will be officially launched on Sunday at Phnom Penh International Airport presided over by Prime Minister Hun Sen at the opening ceremony. The airline had received substantial financial support from Vietnam Airline.

Mao Havannall, the State of Secretariat for Civil Aviation, was quoted by the Cambodia Daily as saying that the new national carrier- which will carry the name Angkor Air- will start doing business on Monday after the official launch.

He added that the airline had received substantial backing from Vietnam Airline, but he did not confirm the amount of capital the government had received from Vietnam Airline, continued papers.

The airline will flight from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap and from both Cambodian cities to Ho Chi Minh City.
